TCL Innovations was established in 2008 as an independent operating division of the Tennant Chemicals Company Limited. TCL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Charles Tennant & Company (Canada) Limited and member of the Tennant Group of Global Companies. The Tennant Group was originally founded in Glasgow, Scotland in 1797 and still to this day is a privately held enterprise with operations around the World. The Tennant Group is involved in a variety of business areas including manufacturing, sourcing, and chemical distribution into very diverse market segments. The Group brings more than 210 years of experience in the chemical and related industries and a Global support network on which TCL Innovations can draw on.

TCL Innovations' mission is to develop new innovative, proprietary cost effective technologies and bring them to market. It focuses on the design, development and manufacture of naturally based and environmentally responsible surfactant specialties targeted to manufacturers of personal and home care products. Although TCL Innovations has its development lab in the Greater Toronto Area, it does utilize a Global Supply network, and has manufacturing capabilities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Through its Strategic Supply Partners, TCL Innovations has the ability to manufacture, not only proprietary surfactant blends, but also new chemistries for its target markets.
